Voice CallVideo Call

How it Works

Join any time during an event to get paired with your best match.

Start each date with voice to get acquainted. Progress to video if the vibe feels right.

After chatting over video, decide if you want to match. If you do, we'll share your contact information.

Repeat as many times as you want during the event. Come and go as you please.

Face First vs. Other Apps

Other apps: You show up to a first date only to realize within the first 5 minutes there's no chemistry — after already spending time and energy getting ready and commuting. Now you have to see it through when you already know it's not going to work out.

Face First: A short video call before meeting up means no-spark first dates are rare.

Other apps: The person you meet may be significantly different from what you were expecting — and this will only get worse as AI improves.

Face First: You video call before matching, so you have a clear idea of who you're meeting.

Other apps: Matches rarely translate to real-life dates. You message for days or weeks and then get ghosted. Even when matches do lead to dates, it's only after investing significant time messaging — and those dates may not go anywhere.

Face First: You exchange contact info after a 6-minute conversation. People only match with people they're serious about meeting in person.

Other apps: People swipe on your profile, not you. Investing in professional photos or profile optimization can make or break your match count. As the swiper, you can be misled by a polished profile or miss out on a great match because of a weak one.

Face First: There are no profiles — just you. People judge you based on who you actually are. The audio-only start to each date also prevents snap judgments.

Other apps: You can spend tens or hundreds (or thousands) of hours on these apps with nothing to show for it.

Face First: Even if you don't get a match, you get better at talking to new people — connecting with them, being curious, interested, and interesting.

Other apps: People span the full spectrum — from looking for a hookup to deeply serious about finding their person — and it's hard to know who is who. Harassment and misconduct are common.

Face First: The format — paid and requiring some intentionality — plus our aggressive community guidelines curate a community that's serious about dating.

Other apps: You open the app multiple times a day to swipe and constantly check for new matches and messages.

Face First: Sessions are once a week, and you're notified of new matches immediately. There's no reason to open the app outside of that window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your first event is free! After that, each event is a small amount (no more than $10). You'll also receive a refund in the form of an event credit if you don't go on any dates during an event.
If you're getting paired with people that don't seem like a good fit, please reach out to us and share your experience. We want you to have the best experience possible. There could be several reasons you're not getting paired with the people you want: 1. We are a new community. As the size of the community grows, you will get better pairings. 2. If you are new to the platform, it takes our algorithm a few dates to calibrate. If you stick it out, we're confident you'll start to find better pairings. 3. Filters. Make sure you are not filtering out too many people. If you are filtering by age, distance, or other criteria, try expanding your filters to see better pairings.
